Two places to see what I’m doing: useful technology in practice, and notes from the systems underneath it.

More Than Gadgets

Useful tech reviews, looking at how far technology has come and how cheaply you can do things. It is a shift away from annual upgrades: replace it when it breaks, not just when a new model arrives.

Personal notes · working evidence

Making the signal visible.

I'm Andrew Hawley. I work across energy, finance, technology and local infrastructure — following the gap between what people are told and what they can actually see. I've most recently expanded into software development and AI integration — check out seam.systems for more on that.

What I follow

A few useful angles.

See the system

Energy is never just energy. I look at the incentives, infrastructure and decisions underneath the headline.

Build in public

The businesses I’m involved with are practical experiments in making complicated markets more legible.

Speak plainly

Talks and conversations for people who want the useful version — the trade-offs, not the theatre.

Keep notes

The blog is where I test ideas, record what changed, and leave a trail for anyone following along.

Shorter pieces of the same work: follow the signal, test the story, keep the useful bits.
